About Us – Finally Free CIC

At Finally Free, we are not a polished PR team or a corporate charity with glossy boardrooms and buzzwords. We’re just a group of real, everyday women - mums, daughters, sisters - with lived experience of domestic abuse in all its brutal forms.

Between us, we’ve been through it all:
Childhood abuse, narcissistic mothers, alcoholic and violent fathers, sexual assault, and abusive partners. We know the feeling of being ignored, disbelieved, and failed by the very systems that claim to protect us. We know what it’s like to flee with nothing but your kids and your sanity hanging by a thread.

We are, quite honestly, a pool of trauma - mixed with the hyperfocused kind of ADHD that means if you give us a list, we’ll get the job done. No matter what.

We’re not perfect, and we don’t pretend to be. But we are honest, determined, and fiercely protective of women who’ve walked the same path. We're building what we wish we'd had: a safe place to land, to breathe, to heal. A real village.

Because what happened to us should never happen to anyone else.
Because women are still being failed - daily, silently, systemically.
Because shelters shouldn’t come with shame, conditions, or a time limit.
Because no woman should ever be made to feel like a burden for needing help.

The charity/CIC sector can be brutal. It’s competitive, underfunded, and often full of backstabbing, cliques, and “pick-me” behaviour. Sexism and misogyny are still baked into the system -  even in the spaces supposedly built to support women.

That’s not us.

We’re not here to compete, destroy, or use other women to climb some invisible ladder. We’re here to help — and to build something that lifts all of us.

We were promised a village.
We never got it.
So, we’re building one - for every woman who needs it.
